Downtown’s Matsumoto’s first film "Dainipponjin" has been selected for Director's Fortnight at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. According to Cannes official web site, “The Director's Fortnight” is an independent section held in parallel to the CannesFilm Festival and organized by the French Directors Society. So it is a separate event from the main competition. I couldn’t find any related articles on Macchan since the official selection for the Directors' Fortnightwill be announced on May 3. It seems he has already gained a prettygood reputation among the organizers, according to Japanese Media reports. As a matter of fact, I have very mixed feelings about his film. Onone hand, I am very excited that Macchan made the movie because I looooove him! On the other hand, I am convinced that it must be crap.
